Hessian Curing Blanket
Hessian Curing Blanket
Hessian (also known as burlap) has many uses across many industries, and for the concreting industry is predominantly used for retention of water while curing in-situ or precast concrete. It is sometimes referred to as a curing blanket, and is used because of its good water absorptive properties.
The slab is sprayed with water as soon as the concrete is finished, and the hessian is rolled out across the slab. The curing hessian is then completely saturated with water, and kept wet until the curing phase of concrete is finished.
The wet hessian retains the moisture in the slab as it is curing, ensuring the concrete doesn’t dry out to quickly, which gives a much higher strength concrete slab with less cracks.
