What is a Dynamic Cone Penetrometer?

The Dynamic Cone (DCP) Penetrometer by Safari Group is a tool used to calculate soil density and compaction on construction sites with a high clay soil content. These tools are commonly called Clay Penetrometers as they are used in clay soil environments.

How do you use a DCP Clay Penetrometer?

A DCP Penetrometer works by measuring the penetration of the penetrometre tip into the soil after a specified number of blows by the weight within the penetrometer. The 9kg weight is raised to a fixed height and dropped onto the sturdy steel base section.
